Drywall is boring, but it the stuff that houses are made of; 50 billion square feet of it gets produced each year. Its production consumes almost one percent of all US energy, creating 51 million tons of greenhouse gases in the process. Green building material startup Serious Materials wants to change that; CEO Kevin Surace says “Drywall is the third largest producer of greenhouse gases among building materials. It’s behind cement and steel.”

His company has developed EcoRock, a new board that is produced without heat, saving 90% of the embodied energy. According to Michael Kanellos at Cnet, “EcoRock actually costs less to make than regular drywall, but the raw materials cost more. In the end, a 4×10-foot sheet of EcoRock drywall might sell for around $20, while standard drywall can range in price from $20 down to $10. The price on EcoRock, however, will decline with mass production, while traditional drywall will likely go up with increases in fuel price.”

Whether you are going to build yourself a brand new home or you just want to do some remodeling in your existing home, you should put a lot of thought into which building materials you’ll end up using. There are the old standard materials that have been being used for years or you can choose upgrade products which are better for our world and your pocket.

When you are going over the design of a new bathroom or kitchen, it is important to choose a sheetrock material that is water and moisture resistant.

Nothing can be more expensive in a bathroom or kitchen than to have mold develop behind the walls and ceilings of these rooms. These rooms in a home are most at risk of having a water problem or becoming moist and damp because of cooking, dishwashing, or showering and bathing. The sheetrock is one place that can easily become wet and cause mold to grow easily.

The other things you might wish to spend a little more money on as well are countertops, floors tiles, tubs, sinks, and bathtubs that are made using bacteria and mold resistant additives. This can make the numbers of bacteria able to grow on these surfaces much less and thus making a healthier environment for your family. When family members touch these surfaces or when you place food like raw chicken on a counter, this is one of the biggest ways that illness causing germs and bacteria are spread to each other.

It just makes sense to use as many of these updated products and materials as you can in a home. Anytime you have to do remodeling or repairing in an existing home, the better grade of materials you use for that project, the more value you will adding to the home. Anyone who is searching for a home to buy these days wants the home to have as many bells and whistles as possible and this includes having environmentally friendly products and materials as well as the ones that are the healthiest for their family.

A brand new home is usually the biggest investment you will make in your lifetime, buying quality materials and products when you build or remodel will only make that investment more valuable and efficient for you to live in as well.

In many areas of the country, it is important to raise the buildings in the theme to edge damage from earthquakes. Because most earthquakes are unexpected, the form’s developer cannot depend on an early alert method to preclude wound to the individuals inside the shop in the happening of an earthquake. The organize has to be able to resist an earthquake that can strike at any time. For this wisdom, many researchers have compiled mounds of information on the best way to compose a house to stop earthquakes.

Most commercial structures that are built nowadays are composed out of whichever actual or metal. These are the two most admired equipment to theory commercial structures out of because of the frequent advantages of with these supplies. Both materials are awfully tough and lasting, creating a structure that will be sound for a very long stage of time. Both materials are inert which makes them invulnerable to rot, fungi, termites, and construct. The materials do not pause down as clearly as some other types of shop materials may. Nevertheless when it comes to foot earthquakes, which substance is better; specific or metal?

Teak outdoor furniture seems to be all the rage these days; it is the new fashion when it comes to outdoor seating and natural fibers and materials seem to be the new fashion these days. The element behind teak outdoor furniture that sets it apart from other materials is that not only will it last up to 75 years if well cared for, but it can also withstand many of the things that Mother Nature can do to it while still standing durable and strong, holding up to two or three times the weight of other outdoor furniture materials.

If teak outdoor furniture is so wonderful and is truly all that it is cracked up to be, then you are probably wondering why more people do not take the time to at least looking into getting some teak outdoor furniture of their own. The first stopping point may very well be the price of teak outdoor furniture.

It is so costly to grow and maintain trees that yield teak wood as well as ship the wood from where it is grown overseas that the cost of teak outdoor furniture can tend to be rather high after the costs of labor and parts and even creativity make it into the mix. Due to the nature of the wood, teak outdoor furniture can take on some interesting shapes and proportions, unlike any other type of wood out there so that makes it especially valuable, as it has a properly unlike any other type of building material out there.

Outside of the costs, another one of the things that deter people from investing in teak wood is that they want something without any type of care or maintenance involved. Teak outdoor furniture is a rather hefty investment, and it takes some time to actually get into the rhythm of keeping your teak outdoor furniture clean and well maintained like it should be. There are certain products that you have to purchase in order to be able to truly care for your patio set, so you have to be certain to take those precautions in order to make sure that your teak outdoor furniture set lasts you well worth all of the money you are paying and years you are paying for.
